PRE-NOMINATIONS and WITHDRAWLS for 2007 SHAHZADA Events
Pre-nominations at Shahzada benefit both the riders and organisers, with the co-operation of all intending riders. Pre-nomination allows the entrant data to be entered into the event computer in advance, allowing confirmation printouts to be sent to each rider in advance. Riders have the opportunity to ensure that their information has been correctly entered. Ultimately this process ensures the information placed on the Internet each day is correct, the post ride book is correct and if the entrant withdraws, the refund cheque is sent to the correct address. When riders are at St Albans their minds are far from checking information to make sure that it is correct.
The advance pre-nominations allow the pre-ride book to be sent out to riders so that they can become aware of the details of the event in advance and allow the committee to adequately provision facilities such as toilets, showers, fire wood and food services, etc. To this end the necessary deadline is the Friday 3 weeks before the start of Shahzada, which is 3/8/2007 for this year's event.
The finalisation of entry fees in advance means that this time consuming task is completed before getting to St Albans and reduces security risk by reducing the amount of cash that has to be held at the ride secretary's office. It also provides a working cash float to pay bills that have to be paid before the event is held. In the event that a rider must withdraw before vetting at Shahzada, the Shahzada treasurer will post a refund cheque a couple of weeks after the event is over. This posting uses the pre-nomination information data to print the mailing labels and to list the amount of each refund.
The basis of refunds is the pre-nomination amount paid, less the cover price of the pre-nomination books posted, ie, $10 which includes postage. If a rider who has withdrawn wants the post ride book, the withdrawal fee is $20.
Late entries for all Shahzada events, who have not pre-nominated, should take their completed pre-nomination form to the computer shed in the vetting area as soon as possible after arriving in St Albans. Riders are reminded that the limit on entrant numbers is 100 for 400 km Mares and Geldings, 10 for 400 km Stallions, 50 for the 3 day training ride and 50 each in the single day 80 km events. If the number of entrants exceeds the quota, entry will be allowed on a first come basis.
